The E&H women’s swim team in its infancy has managed to successfully evolve from a club swimming team just three years ago into a team that has unlimited potential.

“I feel that my girls, even though half of my team have never swam competitively, they are very competitive. You could put them up there with someone who has swam in the ODAC for years and they’re right up there with them. But because we don’t have the numbers, that’s where we’re losing our meets,” coach Shana Hicks said.

The Wasps have not had the best season, sometimes having to field teams that were outnumbered against more seasoned teams. Injuries have also been a factor. “We have nine on our roster and three injured right now,” Hicks said.

However, this has not stopped swimmers such as junior Jess Burke. “It’s satisfying to know that I dove into a pool on a competitive swim team three months ago, and I’m giving other swimmers a run for their money,” Burke said.

The Wasps will compete in the ODAC Tournament on Feb ruary 15-17.
